Ohio legislators view OSCPA as expert in budget process
House and Senate representatives from across Ohio attended OSCPA’s Forum for a Strong Ohio last week as the Society continues to drive the discussion on key recommendations made in the Society’s Budget Advisory Task Force Report. The report was presented to Governor Strickland and caucus leaders in November and continues to draw interest from administration and legislative leaders.
In discussing the report with the Hannah News Service, Rep. Ron Amstutz, the ranking minority member of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee, said , “I think there is a great deal of interest and the CPA society is viewed as an expert on this process.”
“We felt it was important enough to put this report together and get the ideas in front of Ohio’s governmental leaders,” OSCPA Chair of the Board and Task Force Chair Matt Yuskewich, CPA told the Ohio Statehouse crowd.
Forum attendees heard from leading authorities from Washington, Florida and Indiana who detailed their successful state and local budget reforms, including implementing performance audits. OSCPA-supported legislation mandating performance audits for state agencies passed the Ohio Senate in a unanimous vote following the Forum.
S.B. 4 now awaits action in the Ohio House.
